we'll make it happen, we'll turn it around
[ Well, that... certainly was a thing that happened. Viktor wishes he could unsee what he witnessed in the library, but it seems like it has etched into his memory forever. Thinking about it makes him sick to his stomach, and eventually he decides that he needs something to keep his mind off it, at least for a little while.
So around noon, a note goes up on the fridge: ]
If you need a distraction after what happened today, come to the dining room at 6 pm.
There will be food and we'll be playing truth or dare!
♥ Viktor Nikiforov ♥
[ There's also a cute doodle of himself underneath his signature. Later in the day, he writes copies of said note and slides them under everyone's doors. ]
[ Those who come to the dining room at will find that Viktor has made plenty of borscht, pancakes and open-faced sandwiches for them. He isn't the best chef ever, but it tastes pretty good and will fill you up! There's also juice, water, and a few bottles of alcohol for those who are old enough to drink; try to be responsible, okay.
And for the truth and dare, he's prepared shots of hot sauce as punishment for those who refuse a dare. ]

Dearest Hanyuu Furude,
These last several weeks have hardly been pleasant to you, myself, or anyone else who now attends this university. Our trials have been sordid and many, and several of our number now lay dead. Five, at the time of this letter's authorship. As I have promised you, I refuse to join that number or - if I should - that it will be you who casts me into the pit, and it shall be you who I will hope for forgiveness from for the sake of my soul. I apologize for this burden I have put upon you, but in truth, there is no other individual with whom I would entrust either of those tasks. Among us "apprentices," you are the finest of our number, perhaps including even myself.
But let us not speak of tragedies that may yet come, for both of us have suffered far to much before now to dwell on such things. Rather, I would speak of what pleasant times we have had together. As I told you, it has been many year since I had an individual I was willing to consider my friend. While this was truthful, it in face understates the value I put in you: I have never nor will I ever befriend a human, and even among vampires there are few that I trust or appreciate outside of my own family. Following what happened in Europe, when my James promised to be beside me forever, I assumed that would assuage my loneliness. I had no need for anyone else, for there was him at my household and from him I was given the blessing that was my son Henry. Since then, that family has only grown, and I can say with all truth on my lips that it was James Edwards, who took my family name, who saved me from myself.
So then, to be denied him and to be denied my family when I realized that crushing, indescribable loss - I suspect that I could not have survived such a thing without a friend by my side. In the absence of all others, I found you, Hanyuu, and I will forever cherish that. Our time here no doubt will be short as compared to our lifetimes, for either we will die, or we will escape, victorious. Though I have no intention of the former, I would be a fool not to consider it. And so until either conclusion, I want to speak with you more and brush your hair. I want to play games with you and speak of our children and grandchildren. I wish for all of these things, Hanyuu.
Sincerely,
Elda Marker

No? Where would you get that idea?!

[A shake of the paper!!]
It totally sounds like you're head over heels for her! Hanyuu is the last person I expected you to be into, but considerin' what your husband's like, I honestly can't stay surprised.
