Final Investigation.
The Wordsmith's message earlier this week was an ominous one; try as one might, it's difficult to ignore completely, especially with such few details provided to the group. "The end" is such a vague description; however, it does mean one thing, and that's the promise that all of this will come to a close, one way or another. He's promised you one other thing, however – that being that the only way to leave the building is by way of Rule Seven. The chimes ring out, as they always do, on Friday morning; a thorough check of the building will bring with it the realization that no one has died as of last night. There are no bodies to be found in any of the rooms; Kageshirou remains in the foyer, but in general it doesn't seem that anything has changed. However, it's plain that you're all getting restless, and perhaps understandably so; there's only one thing to do in that sort of circumstance, isn't there? After all, you've gotten good at this game; you know what happens on Fridays around here. There are a lot of places to check; just as a bit of advice, you might want to start on the lowest floor first. Other than that, however? You're on your own. Best of luck to you. >Explore? |

...he's going to flip through and see if there's anything comprehensible in it.]

[LET'S LOOK AT THIS PAPER.]

A...uh.
...Thing.
It's probably a blunt weapon of some sort? Kind of like a club of the non-golf variety, the sort meant to actually, like, bludgeon people with. Either it's a weird weapon or there's a good reason this guy's the Wordsmith and not, like, the Person Good At Drawing Things.
It looks like there's a note on the back, though, once you're done looking at the vaguely weapon-shaped jankfest on the front.]

...damn. Like. Damn. What a shitty drawing. What's on the back? a clue as to what this legendary piece of shit is?]

I was too shortsighted to realize losing Assentive may prove a problem in the future.
...Yeah.]

Actually... is there more to this desk than a top? Maybe that'll lead to some answers, unless there's anything else on the top to look at.

Actually, with the exceptions of the things on top of it, the desk seems entirely clean. Maybe it's used for reading and nothing else, maybe it's just a convenient place to put flowers, who knows.]

He's going to poke around a bit more to see if there's any secret compartments because fuuuuck that.]

What script is the book in the weird unknown language using? Is it Roman letters, Cyrillic, Japanese, Korean... weird... Phoenician characters...?]

If this is truly the Wordsmith's personal library, I think you should read this.
[She's holding open a book with it open on self-actualization and souls and shit and about how to separate the soul from the body... which seems to be via dying.
What are the chances she'll have to tell him about this because he refuses to read?]
no subject
[He hands over the book in the foreign text that no one is going to be able to understand, because he doesn't know no one can understand it.
...and he's not that bad, okay, so he at least takes a crack at Estelle's book..]

However, the book Guzma gave her....]
I'm afraid I can't read it. I don't recognize the letters in the least. I wonder if this is a language that the Wordsmith can read.
no subject
[...he's trying to read this. he's giving it a college try. but he's just... not really getting it.]
...uh. So I get... souls and hierarchies and stuff. But I think this is a little above my reading level.

So basically, what this book entails is a philosophy on how the soul works and self-actualization. It appears there's a chart on how to reach this, however, the Wordsmith may not agree with it given how the book appears to be less read in those chapters. Yet it appears to be a theme within this book and others is that when basic needs are met, self-actualization occurs.
Another common connection these books have is about how to live within reason and how the soul is connected to our physical bodies yet it's not at the same time.
It explains that to separate our souls from our bodies... we must die. Only then can the soul separate. Or at least that's how I interpreted it since I highly doubt there are other ways to do this.
The Wordsmith could be conducting an experiment on that very thing...
Self-actualization and if the soul truly separates from the body following death.

I think "self-actualization" is the thing I'm having trouble with here. I actually... think Phi and I had a conversation about like. Consciousness and its connection to our bodies? And how it might actually be in another dimension or something. I dunno.

no subject
Though, yeah, I kinda get you there.
no subject
[That said...]
Safety and security are two needs not met here, however. So given one of the theories common in these books, we cannot reach our true potential.Yet there was also talk of disrupting the connection between the body and the soul -- but how can a soul be self-actualized when we're in danger like so?
no subject
...but like, I don't know. I feel like I've actually hammered some stuff out when I wasn't safe and secure? So I don't know what this dude's talking about.
no subject
Honestly, I have no way to refute that.
