WEEK 4
Three more have died this past week. Milla Maxwell was killed for breaking a rule, Chiyuki was murdered, and you all had a hand in executing Yoshikage Kira.

It seems like this isn't going to stop any time soon. How many more will join them this week?

Saturday is given to regrouping and rest; on Sunday morning the clock chimes as it always has, but at least there are no bodies to find today. It seems you're safe for now. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost...

Despite the Wordsmith's reaction to the last trial, it seems as though you've been rewarded once again for a job that was...well, it was done, even if he didn't explicitly say it was well-done. Another door has opened in that stairway, it seems, leading you further down into the building; once again, there are more rooms down there, more things to occupy yourselves with.

Or perhaps just more means to get creative with regards to how you take initiative with your fellow Apprentices.

[ To be fair, she is a vampire, sneaking is sort of their thing.

You got messed up by something, I thought I'd see what it was.

[He clutches the belt in one hand, letting it dangle.]

I suppose I just let my mind wonder too long.

Hard not to, what with everything.

[ She says this as an excuse to sound at least vaguely sympathetic. ]

It's amazing how many people we've lost in the last week alone.

[His grip on the belt tightens.]

None of them deserved this.

[ She corrects him, even if this was more end of last week: ]

Kira did. [ A beat ] Hell, by most people's standards, Kimbley probably does too.

...I don't believe in killing. As bad as he was.

[ Oh wow. ]

Good for you. You threatened to torture that Ushiromiya woman.

I didn't want her to die.

And what, a businessman is so good at that he can make sure she doesn't die?

I got the information we needed out of her. That's what matters.

[ She pats him on the shoulder, even ]

But let me tell you something that matters: Yoshikage Kira needed to die. In fact, I should've ripped off his hands and fed them to him.

There's a lot of people I want to see dead, more than anything. But that's not my decision, and it's not your's either.

If I were to make that decision, if I were to cross that line, I don't think I would stop.

[ Her eyes are doubting, like she's unsure she can really believe that he hasn't killed anyone before, what with her assumptions about him.

But ...

She also has- ]

How's it your decision what I think or do?

[Bruce is extremely tense, but he's quiet, with narrowed eyes.]

But if you were to try anything, I'd stop you. It'd make you no better than the Wordsmith.

[ At that...?

At that, she laughs ]

Oh, you simply must be joking, capo! What, does the mob like to make gaffs like that?!

Let me assure you that I am most decidedly not. Just thinking about the idea makes me want to vomit.

[He snarls.]

A member of the mob shot my parents right in front of me, and you'd honestly compare me to that man.

[ If she should be intimidated - she is, but it's not reflected through fear. It's reflected through her eyes turning a little cat-like and her fangs being exposed. ]

Who else has a business world that involves being rough enough to threaten torture on someone and then walk it off? It's what anyone would think of first.

You act as though I'm not supposed to get heated when I'm talking to a murderer.

I act like most businessmen wouldn't leap to that as their first movement.

Nobody else seemed to be following through with actually doing anything during that trial. Were you intending to press out a confession through conversation?

[ Haha ] You know, I agree!

[ A beat ]

But I'm also an old vampire who doesn't give a hoot about justice or whatever laws humans set up.

[ So obviously, that's not great company to be in ]
